Julian Nagelsmann has resigned as Germany head coach after the team’s World Cup exit, the German Football Association confirmed.

He said he spent several days reflecting on the elimination, consulting trusted figures inside and outside the federation, before reaching a decision he described as far from easy.

Nagelsmann stressed that his priority had always been the national side’s success and that a change now serves Germany’s best interests, offering the squad a fresh start.

He thanked his staff, the DFB and, above all, the players for their commitment throughout his tenure. He also praised the supporters for their unwavering backing, expressing regret at having fallen short of delivering more memorable nights at this World Cup.

Assistants Benjamin Glück and Benjamin Hübner have also stepped down and will depart alongside Nagelsmann.

The DFB is expected to begin the search for a new head coach as preparations for the next international cycle get under way.
