In a major development, Real Madrid appear to have finalised the deal to sign Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig.

If everything goes right, the RB Leipzig winger is set to become the club’s fifth signing this summer and by far the biggest one.

That is according to Ramon Alvarez, who suggests the announcement of the deal could be imminent after terms were agreed.

The journalist suggests Real Madrid have pulled off the Diomande deal with a lot of discretion and the player is ready to move to the Bernabeu.

According to Alvarez, Real Madrid were fully aware of what Liverpool and PSG had offered, as well as Leipzig’s demands, and have manoeuvred themselves into a commanding position.

So much so that the surprise now would be if Diomande did not end up at the Bernabeu. He is expected to sign a deal until 2031.

The fee is expected to land somewhere in the region of €120 to €130 million, making the Ivory Coast international the marquee arrival of Real Madrid’s summer.

PSG had considered the deal all but done, believing they had the player agreed and secured. Real Madrid’s late and silent entry, however, has completely turned the situation on its head, leaving the Qatari-owned club angry at having a target snatched away.

More to come at the Bernabeu

Diomande’s arrival may not be the end of Real Madrid’s business either. The club are planning two further reinforcements, with a second starting-quality centre-back high on Jose Mourinho’s wishlist.

But Diomande’s signing comes at a time when there has been major speculation over Vinicius Jr.’s future at the club.

The coming weeks, therefore, could be crucial as Real Madrid look to finalise the future of the Brazilian international, whose contract expires at the end of next season.
