Kyril Louis-Dreyfus has overseen Sunderland’s resurgence since taking majority control in February 2021, and his reported wealth now sits mid-table among Premier League owners.
According to Sunderland Echo, the chairman is listed at £2.8bn, ranking 15th. He sits behind Nottingham Forest’s Evangelos Marinakis at £3.3bn and ahead of Bournemouth’s Bill Foley at £2.7bn and Brighton’s Tony Bloom at £1.3bn.
The list is headed by Newcastle United’s owners, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and RB Brothers, at £723.3bn, with Manchester City’s City Football Group next at £24.5bn. Manchester United’s ownership group is put at £20.5bn, with Chelsea and Arsenal at £19bn and £16.1bn respectively. At the other end, Coventry City is listed at £317m, Brentford at £280m and Hull City at £225m.
Since February 2021, Sunderland have achieved two promotions, including a Championship play-off final win at Wembley that ended a nine-year absence from the Premier League. The club have now secured European football for only the second time in their history.
Head coach Regis Le Bris led Sunderland back into the elite before a transformative summer window set up a season that culminated in Europa League qualification. Louis-Dreyfus, 28, has been a visible and popular presence home and away.
Sunderland are preparing to compete alongside AC Milan, Olympique Marseille and Juventus in next season’s Europa League.
