Leeds United teenager Harry Gray has returned to Thorp Arch for hamstring treatment during his Rotherham loan and will not be available for the first couple of weeks of Lee Clark’s reign, though Clark says his season is not over.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Gray had been ever present since joining in January to aid the Millers’ survival push, but missed the midweek defeat to Peterborough United. The following day Matt Hamshaw was sacked, with Rotherham swiftly appointing Clark.
Clark said it is common for young loanees to use their Premier League club’s facilities, adding that Leeds’ proximity helps. He is hopeful Gray can rejoin the squad for the next block of matches after Saturday.
The January move was underpinned by assurances over game time, with Hamshaw rating him highly. Clark wants the 17-year-old attacker involved as soon as possible and noted injuries have blighted the campaign, leaving numbers tight for this weekend.
Rotherham visit league-leading Lincoln City on Saturday, managed by former Leeds coach Michael Skubala, then host Stevenage at New York Stadium. Gray’s hamstring issue is thought to be minor and should keep him out for roughly two to three weeks.
