Leeds United are planning the biggest Elland Road overhaul in decades, and supporters have set out five essentials for the redevelopment.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, confirmed works include a full North Stand rebuild, a major West Stand upgrade and a capacity increase to 53,000, with the club aiming to retain the ground’s famed atmosphere while improving accessibility, hospitality and general admission.
Top of the list is capacity that meets demand, with tens of thousands still on the season-ticket waiting list and many hoping the planned expansion is only a starting point so the next generation can get in.
Fans also want 21st century connectivity, specifically reliable WiFi and mobile coverage to check scores, watch clips and contact friends.
Basic comfort ranks highly, with repeated calls for more leg room and human-sized seating and walkways.
Many back safe standing, favouring modern rail seating or designated areas for those who prefer to stand and sing without blocking views.
Transport is the other flashpoint, with Armley Gyratory already a choke point and evening kick-offs compounding the crawl, prompting ideas from improved shuttle links to a tramline, a direct link from the main railway station, or even a bridge over Elland Road.
