Memphis has expressed a desire to remain at Corinthians, stressing the decision over his future is not his alone.

According to Meu Timao, the Netherlands forward, who started the 2-0 defeat to Platense, addressed his unresolved contract and said he wants to stay but cannot make or sign any offer, adding he has faced situations in the past two years he had not experienced before in his career.

He declined to engage with club councillors’ public comments on his deal, saying he prefers to answer on the pitch. He emphasised his commitment, aims to bring trophies and good moments, and noted he cannot control how his name is used in internal politics.

His contract runs until 31 July. The hierarchy are working on a renewal, and a new agreement could be reached before the World Cup. He wishes to remain and has been helping the club pursue sponsors to make a deal financially viable.

For Corinthians, he has played 79 times, with 40 wins, 18 draws and 21 defeats. He has 15 goals and 20 assists, and has lifted the 2025 Campeonato Paulista and Copa do Brasil, plus the 2026 Supercopa do Brasil.

He will not be available against Grêmio in the 18th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro on Saturday. The number 10 travels on Thursday to join the Netherlands for World Cup preparations.
