Nelson Deossa has reported back to Real Betis for pre-season, yet he remains a Vasco target this window amid the club’s SAF impasse.
According to Globo.com, Vasco have a verbal agreement with Deossa and with Betis, and the player wants to play at São Januário. Betis have accepted the financial outline, and no other club is close.
The obstacle is the institutional turmoil after judicial intervention in the SAF, which persists. Vasco’s football department are restricted in talks, though they remain in contact with Betis and the player’s camp to preserve the deal.
Betis executives seek legal certainty and guarantees that any contract will be honoured, something Vasco cannot offer until a court ruling. The SAF is run by a court-appointed intervener and the Spanish club have concerns over the financial and legal picture.
Associates of president Pedrinho remain confident of reversing the legal position. However, CRVG’s request for reconsideration was rejected, keeping him removed from the SAF and appointing another intervener, while the club’s appeal is pending.
The impasse has already hindered recruitment. Franclim Carvalho declined an offer due to the lack of a defined head coach, and Vasco could not give Coritiba the guarantees required to hire Fernando Seabra.
Vasco expect to await a court decision before attempting to finalise Deossa. In parallel, they are working to reassure all parties that the deal could be completed regardless. Appointing a head coach and adding a midfielder remain priorities this window.
