Levante were stung by a last-gasp draw against Girona, but results elsewhere mean they have shaved a point off the survival line after defeats for Elche and Alavés and Mallorca’s 2-2 at El Sadar. Around the Ciutat de València the message is to fight on under Luís Castro.
According to Superdeporte, the former Nantes coach has set a single non-negotiable, intensity and involvement in every action, and has brought the entire squad into a competitive rhythm. He details game plans daily, tells players not starting around two days out, and explains decisions, areas to improve and possible match contexts.
Only three have not featured, Roger Brugué, sidelined since mid December, plus goalkeepers Pablo Campos and Álex Primo, who continue to push Mathew Ryan. The rest have seen minutes as Castro rebuilds confidence and revives near-lost causes.
Oriol Rey now has three straight starts. José Luis Morales returned against Alavés to add freshness, Nacho Pérez earned a first LaLiga start in the derby at right-back, Losada has offered threat in the final third, Tundé has featured on the right, and Carlos Espí is now the reference in attack. Castro is also working to recover the best of Etta Eyong, with Pablo Martínez and Carlos Álvarez back in their natural roles.
After the Girona draw, Castro said it would hurt today and tomorrow, then by the day after tomorrow it should be over. Inside the camp no one is giving up, and they believe work will be rewarded. Survival in Primera División remains the shared obsession.
