Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espírito Santo is reportedly targeting a reunion with Adama Traoré as the club looks to reshape its attacking options following the departure of Anthony Elanga to Newcastle United.

The Fulham winger, who previously flourished under Nuno at Wolves, has emerged as a serious target for Forest, with the club set to open talks over a potential deal according to a report from The Telegraph on Monday.

Traoré’s trademark pace and power make him an ideal candidate to fill the void left by Elanga, whose £55 million move to St James’ Park has accelerated Forest’s search for new wide options.

Meanwhile, Forest are also closing in on the signing of Switzerland international Dan Ndoye, in what is set to become a club-record transfer.

Negotiations with Bologna are now in an advanced stage, with the Serie A side demanding Forest surpass their current transfer record to secure the deal.

The club’s current record stands at £30 million, paid for Ibrahim Sangaré, though payments for Morgan Gibbs-White have since exceeded that figure.

Ndoye, 24, has expressed a strong desire to play in the Premier League and is expected to sign a five-year contract once the deal is finalised.

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is understood to be directly involved in negotiations with Bologna in an effort to push the transfer over the line.

The winger was a standout performer for Bologna last season, scoring eight goals and providing four assists in Serie A. He also impressed on the international stage, starting every match for Switzerland at the 2024 European Championship as they reached the quarter-finals, only to be eliminated by England.

Forest’s winger overhaul comes after not only Elanga’s move to Newcastle, but also the sale of Ramón Sosa to Palmeiras for £10 million. Jota Silva is also expected to depart the City Ground, with interest mounting from clubs in Portugal and Saudi Arabia.

Nuno’s emphasis on width is central to his tactical approach, making wide players a key focus of the club’s summer recruitment drive.

Even prior to Elanga’s departure, Forest had prioritised bolstering the flanks, with Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey and Liverpool’s Ben Doak also reportedly under discussion.

In both Adama and Ndoye, Forest see players with proven quality and room for further development. Ndoye, in particular, is considered a near-perfect fit by the club’s recruitment team—his age, physical attributes, and versatility making him a long-term asset.

Should Forest finalise these deals, it would mark a significant statement of intent as Nuno aims to reshape the squad in his image ahead of the new Premier League season.
