Piotr Zielinski has closed off the prospect of a January switch to Leeds United, saying his focus is on Inter for the second half of the season. His increasing involvement has reduced the likelihood of a winter departure.
“We have a lot of great players in the team, and I get along really well with my teammates. We’ll try to win as much as possible [in 2026]. A team like ours must have big goals,” he told TuttoMercatoWeb.
Zielinski played 84 minutes in Inter’s 1-0 win away at Atalanta last time out. He had struggled for starts under new manager Christian Chivu, but his role has grown as the campaign has progressed. Inter had been open to an exit because of his £140k-a-week wages.
Leeds, unbeaten in five and with nine points collected in recent weeks, sit 16th, seven clear of West Ham in 18th. Daniel Farke’s shift to 3-5-2 and Joe Rodon’s injury underline the need for a centre-back, plus competition up front for Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and an attacking midfielder.
Zielinski is going to be a key player for Poland at the World Cup next summer and has more than 100 caps. Much of Poland’s success could depend on his form heading into the tournament.
