Paul Pogba was so out of shape after Juventus cut him loose that he ‘weighed up to 98kg,’ revealed his brother, as the AS Monaco midfielder prepares to face his old club.

The France international is back in football after his ban for failing a standard Serie A doping test, which prompted Juventus to terminate his contract early by mutual consent.

The ban finally expired in March 2025, and he put pen to paper with Ligue 1 side AS Monaco in June, but it will be tough to get back in shape after such a long time out.

Pogba’s brother Florentin revealed just how bad things had become for the former Manchester United player during the spell on the sidelines, when Juventus wouldn’t let him use their training facilities.

“This period without football has felt very long for him,” the sibling told RMC Sport.

“I hope he’ll get back into shape slowly, but surely, because we want it to be long-term. He’s slowly getting back to training with the group.

“I saw him throughout this period, including when he weighed up to 98kg, then sharpen up and get into shape.”

That is approximately 220 lbs, or 14 stone.

Pogba is now 32 years of age and by a curious twist of fate the Champions League draw has pitted AS Monaco against Juventus, a match to be played on January 28, 2026.
