Franco Mastantuono has been one of Xabi Alonso’s go-to options to play on Real Madrid’s right wing this season, but an untimely injury has cut short his progress in recent weeks.
The Argentine star was diagnosed with pubalgia and has been out of action since the team’s game against Valencia early this month.
He was initially expected to return only midway through next month, but there now appears to be positive news as he even rejoined training with the group as of earlier today.

Now, in a recent report, Diario AS bring to light that Mastantuono is beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
He is not yet fit to return to the team’s dynamics immediately and is ruled out of the team’s clash against Olympiacos later this week. However, there is optimism that he can return much earlier than initially anticipated.
As of earlier today, the teenager partially tested himself with the group and returned to working on the grass, sending a positive signal on his recovery. He appears to be on track to return in the coming games, and Xabi Alonso will hope that is indeed the case.
The injury he is suffering from, pubalgia, has affected some of football’s biggest young names this season, and has become known as a condition that has no definitive cure.
Careful management of minutes is the best remedy, and the manager will thus look to reintegrate Mastantuono with care as he nears a return. After all, he still has no frontrunner to be the regular starter on the right, and the youngster may well be the best option.
