In a recent report, Corriere dello Sport revealed that Sunderland could move in for Bologna defender Jhon Lucumi this summer. It has been stated that the Black Cats are eyeing a move to bring the Colombian centre-back to the Stadium of Light this off-season.
Lucumi has enjoyed a good run of form at the Italian club this season as he has put in a handful of solid displays for them on the defensive end of the field. The 27-year-old has featured in 35 matches for Bologna in this campaign so far, scoring one goal in various competitions.
The Colombian talent has proven himself to be a consistent defender in Serie A this season. Hence, it is no surprise that the Black Cats could launch a move to land him this summer.
His current contract at Bologna will run out at the end of next season. Hence, Sunderland could potentially sign him on the cheap in the summer transfer window.

Lucumi loves a tackle and can time his challenges well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and is a decent passer as well.
Standing at 1.87m, the Colombian sensation is a strong presence in the air. However, there are some question marks over whether he can maintain his good form in the Premier League if the Black Cats manage to snap him up this off-season.
We can expect Lucumi to bring more quality and depth to Sunderland head coach Regis Le Bris’ defence. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team place at the Stadium of Light next season. However, Le Bris has to give him some time to adjust to life at the Wearside club before he can get the best out of the player.
At 27, Lucumi is about to enter his prime, which makes him a good choice for the Black Cats to consider in the upcoming transfer window. He will also help Sunderland compete across all fronts in the coming years. Thus, the Wearside club should focus on going all out to get him on board this summer.
