Sunderland have put a limited number of away tickets back on sale for Sunday’s Tyne-Wear derby at St James’ Park after what it described as a large-scale breach of ticketing rules, the club said in a statement.
The additional seats will be released at 12pm today. Following a review, tickets bought by a supporter found to have misused their allocation were cancelled, with 65 returned to sale.
The club reiterated its commitment to ensuring away allocations go to genuine supporters and to protecting the integrity of its process. It warned that breaches of ticket terms may lead to disciplinary action, including cancellations and potential suspension from matches at the Stadium of Light.
The extra availability is expected to draw strong interest as supporters prepare to travel to Tyneside.
The Black Cats won the reverse fixture at the Stadium of Light 1-0 earlier this season, the only goal credited as a Woltemade own goal.
