According to Sunderland Echo, FA figures show Sunderland’s agent-fee spending rose fivefold after their return to the Premier League.
The data covers February 2025 to February 2026, the two windows since promotion at Wembley. It includes a major summer rebuild and a series of renewed contracts across the year.
Sunderland paid £10,627,772 in the period, up from £2,170,045 in their final Championship season. Despite extensive business, it remained one of the smallest totals in the division.
Burnley recorded the lowest spend at £7,357,902, and Everton were the only other club below Sunderland on £9,990,374. Fellow promoted side Leeds United paid £13,990,935.
Bournemouth’s fees totalled £20,883,523, while Brighton spent £19,520,800. Newcastle United outlaid just over £20 million.
Chelsea led the league at £65,102,247, with a Premier League-wide total of £460,300,308 across the timeframe. The returns also reflect fees tied to 17 signings and renewals for Trai Hume, Eliezer Mayenda, Luke O'Nien and Chris Rigg. They cover any transaction involving an agent registered with the FA.
