Toulouse president confirms Sunderland talks over Dayann Methalie | OneFootball

Toulouse president Olivier Cloarec has addressed Sunderland’s pursuit of Dayann Methalie. The 20-year-old left back is a leading target for the Black Cats.

"Dayann is one of the players who are very much in demand this summer, as well as others," he said. "Today, we are discussing with Sunderland but there is no agreement between the two clubs." He was speaking to RMC.

"We've been discussing with Sunderland for three or four weeks so Dayann's starting amount has been fixed for three weeks and a month," he added.

"After Dayann it's like Emerson... that is it's two players on whom we were absolutely counting on for this year's project, with contracts that are quite long. After that, the market makes it so that when you get to a certain amount, not to sell the player would be a management mistake."

Sunderland want a new left back after Dennis Cirkin’s exit. It is understood Methalie is keen on the move, with a five-year framework in place.

Toulouse are pushing for a fee higher than the roughly €30 million, including add-ons, that took Emersonn to Ipswich Town earlier this summer. Sunderland head coach Régis Le Bris declined to comment, saying the club intend to work under the radar this summer amid fierce competition for targets.
