FLW takes a look at the Wolves players out of contract in 2027, as things stand.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are seven matches into what they hope will be a promotion-winning campaign.

The Old Gold carried mixed form through September, but ultimately ended the month sitting fourth in the standings, three points off the top with a game in hand.

Beating arch-rivals West Brom 1-0 before the international break has instilled a real belief among the fanbase, though, with Cesar Peixoto now having the full backing of the support after not the simplest of starts to life in the Midlands.

Should Wolves climb back to the Premier League come May, the squad they take there will be a big talking point, with avoiding a similar disaster to the recent slide imperative next time.

With this in mind, Football League World takes a look at who could be on their way out next summer, with seven current Wolves players seeing either their current deal come to an end, or their loan spell terminate at the end of the season.

For various reasons, Boubacar Traore has never fully got going at Wolves since moving from Metz in 2022.

But after returning from a loan spell at his previous club, the Mali international has made an impression in the early days of the campaign.

While not a regular, the 25-year-old has impressed in his six appearances, delivering two strong performances in the EFL Cup against Port Vale and Everton.

He is unlikely to replace Andre in the starting lineup, but Traore is among multiple highly-rated squad options at Molineux and is trusted by the fanbase to deliver when called upon.

His current deal runs out at the end of the season, but if he performs as Wolves fight for promotion, he could well earn himself an extended stay.

Signing for the club on a free transfer after the transfer window slammed shut, Bertrand Traore has registered just 16 minutes in a Wolves shirt after his EFL Cup cameo against Everton.

However, the fanbase has yet to judge him as he builds back up after injury woes at Sunderland last season.

At 31, the wideman has Premier League experience with Chelsea, Aston Villa and Sunderland, and has also had a taste of European football.

If Wolves are to ascend, he may be on for a new deal, but as of now, he remains at Molineux on a one-year deal running until next summer.

Ghislain Konan

Following David Moller Wolfe's late move to Hamburg, Ghislain Konan was the first of two free transfers to come through the door at Compton Park, preceding Traore.

Like his fellow September arrival, Konan has made just one appearance for the club so far, but he did impress as he racked up a full 90 minutes against Everton.

Hugo Bueno will continue as the starting left-back under Peixoto, but Konan is seemingly a worthy deputy based on his performance on Merseyside, and could be in line for an extension next summer if he pushes the Spaniard hard enough and impresses in the league.

John Ruddy

Arriving on a free transfer in the latter days of the window, John Ruddy returned to Wolves to take the third goalkeeper spot behind Josa Sa and Joao Virginia.

Barring any injury crisis, it is highly unlikely the 39-year-old will see any minutes this term, but he could be a pivotal presence behind the scenes.

That would not change should Wolves go up either, with Ruddy also fulfilling the same role for Newcastle United in recent years.

He has experienced promotion with the club before, keeping 24 clean sheets in the 2017/18 term, and may taste his second should the relegated side achieve what is expected of them this time around.

Tawanda Chirewa

Introduced to the fold by Gary O'Neil back in the 2023/24 season, Tawanda Chirewa has not been able to get going as a first-team player at Wolves.

After a failed loan spell at Barnsley in the second half of last season, he returned to Molineux over the summer, still looking to kickstart his career as a senior professional.

However, he has seen just 28 minutes in the league this term, and he has no realistic future either on the wing or in the attacking midfield role nailed down by Fer Lopez.

After making 23 appearances for Derby and Huddersfield in the 2024/25 season, Chirewa is yet to match what was the most of his career thus far.

With his deal running out next summer, a departure is likely unless he can make his way into Peixoto's side as they strive for promotion.

Jordan James made the loan switch from Rennes over the summer, with Wolves holding a £10 million purchase option.

As of now, though, he technically won't be at Molineux after this season unless the club activates that clause.

He is yet to overtake Marshall Munetsi in the pecking order, but fans know just how talented he is, with the midfielder scoring his first goal for the club in the 4-1 win vs Stoke last month, and should see more and more minutes come his way now he is back to full fitness following a lack of pre-season in France.

After relegations with Birmingham and Leicester, James is looking to finally make a name for himself in the upper echelons of the Championship, and could even become a Premier League player next term should he make enough of an impression and Wolves seal a top-flight return.

Sean Neave

Sean Neave is the second of two loanees at Molineux this term, and has made three appearances in Old Gold so far.

Just five minutes have come in the league, but the Newcastle striker impressed in the cup against Everton, when he put in a strong performance out on the right.
