Enzo Maresca went with a midfield three with Enzo Fernandez pushing further up the pitch with Malo Gusto surprisingly playing alongside Caicedo.

The 23-year-old has once again been in superb form this season, and is arguably Chelsea’s most important player at this point in time.

Gary Neville hailed Caicedo as the best midfielder in the Premier League after the game, and Shearer has now shared his thoughts.

“It was a gigantic midfield performance, it had absolutely everything,” he told BBC Match of the Day as quoted on X.com.

“It had a bit of Frank Lampard, it had a bit of N’Golo Kanté.

“Moises Caicedo was just absolutely sensational. That’s not just today, by the way, that’s all season.”

Chelsea have also been handed a further boost after Caicedo wasn’t called up to the Ecuador squad for their upcoming friendlies, which gives him the opportunity to have a much needed rest.
