Alan Matturro has ended his time with Genoa by joining Shakthar Donetsk, closing the door on a Levante return after his 25/26 loan in Orriols. The Uruguayan centre-back bid farewell to the Granota support as he moves on.

According to Superdeporte, he was unveiled this morning as a Shakthar player after completing a transfer worth five million euros. The move draws a line under his stint in Italy.

In a message on his social media, Matturro said it had been an honour to be part of Levante. He also recalled the hard-fought survival achieved by Luís Castro’s side.

During his spell he struck a last-minute goal against Elche and supplied an assist versus Osasuna, both key to securing safety in Primera División.

Shakthar do not have a fixed home venue because of the war in Ukraine. They will stage UEFA Champions League home ties at Stamford Bridge, the home of Chelsea, while Kyiv and Lviv tend to host their domestic fixtures with the team led by former Atlético de Madrid footballer Arda Turan.
