Ansu Fati’s Barcelona exit has officially brought the curtain down on a journey that began more than a decade ago at the club.
After spending 14 years in the Blaugrana system, the forward has completed a permanent move to Monaco, ending a chapter that was once promised for greatness.
However, shortly after the Ansu Fati Monaco transfer was announced, comments made by his father, Bori Fati, shifted attention towards Hansi Flick and the role the German coach played in his son’s departure.
Speaking to Erem News (h/t SPORT) following the confirmation of the Ansu Fati Barcelona exit, Bori Fati disclosed that Flick never reached out to the player before his departure was finalised.

“No, he never spoke with him, and nothing happened that would make him reconsider his decision to leave.”
It must be remembered that the 23-year-old was never in Flick’s plans regardless of what was said in the media, and a permanent move, after spending the 2025/26 season on loan at Monaco, was the only possible way.
Bori Fati also shed light on why the Ansu Fati Monaco transfer took longer than expected to become official, despite widespread reports indicating that the agreement had already been reached weeks ago.
Explaining the delay, he said, “The agreement was finalised after all the details were worked out, and we were waiting for Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, to return from his vacation in Brazil.”

He further revealed that discussions with Monaco continued in recent days as both parties sought to resolve remaining issues before the transfer could be completed.
“There were some final details that needed to be agreed upon with Monaco, so the process took a little longer in the last few days, but today everything is finalised.”
Barcelona officially confirmed the transfer on Tuesday, announcing that the club will retain a percentage of any future sale involving the Spanish international.
In their statement, Barça thanked the academy graduate for his contribution over the years, praising his professionalism, commitment and dedication while wishing him success in the next stage of his career.
