Anton Stach marked his Germany return by coming off the bench, then celebrated with a Michael Jackson themed Instagram message after a 4-3 win over Switzerland.

Recalled for March friendlies after impressing since joining Leeds from TSG Hoffenheim last summer, the 27-year-old was named among the substitutes at St Jakob-Park in Basel on Friday night and introduced in the 80th minute for his first appearance for his country since June 2022. The player said in a post that he was proud to play for his country after the win.

The match was 3-3 when he came on, and four minutes later Florian Wirtz completed a brace to clinch a 4-3 victory.

Stach’s post carried a playful Michael Jackson theme, with a photo series set to Billie Jean. He added a microphone to one image and a line of ducks to another.

He also highlighted the 4-3 scoreline and his pride in representing Germany, punctuating it with a cheeky hee-hee. The midfielder has built a reputation this season for inventive Instagram content.
