After a difficult spell at Manchester, Antony has rediscovered a sense of calm in Spain - so much so that he turned down a move to Bayern Munich in order to remain with Real Betis.
The Brazilian revealed that he got a call from Bayern boss Vincent Kompany on transfer deadline day, yet his mind and heart were already set on a different destination.
Speaking to Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte, Antony commented on the approach from Bayern: "I'm going to be completely honest. It really shook me up.
"We're talking about a global giant, Bayern Munich, where a coach with that kind of history, Kompany, calls me. And we have a conversation there, he was super polite to me, said he always really liked my football, and this was at 11pm, a little after 11.
"Whether I wanted to or not, it really affected me. Because of the greatness of the club, the greatness of the coach, and the way he approached me, the way he talked to me."
However, the Brazilian insists that family came first, leading him to reject the move to Munich. "What weighed heavily on my decision was also my family. It's about looking out for my children. Lorenzo loves this place, loves this city [Seville]. When we were on vacation in Brazil, without knowing anything, he always asked: 'Dad, when are we going back to Spain?'"
