Real Betis star reveals Bayern Munich ‘tried to sign me’ over the summer | OneFootball

Real Betis star Antony has revealed that he was the subject of a late-window approach on the part of German champions Bayern Munich over the summer.

This came with a view to taking his talents to the Allianz Arena.

Wide-man Antony of course saw his time at Betis made permanent back in September, after the Verdiblancos found an agreement with their Manchester United counterparts over a fee.

This came fresh off a stellar loan stint with Manuel Pellegrini’s squad.

As alluded to above, though, an altogether more high-profile club also positioned themselves in the running for the Brazilian’s services in the window’s final days.

Speaking during an interview with Globo this week, as cited by Fabrizio Romano, Antony explained:

“Bayern tried to sign me in the final 24 hours of the summer window. Kompany called me personally… we spoke, he said he’s always been a big fan of my game… but I gave my word to Betis and I couldn’t betray them. Betis for me means happiness.”

Antony has since gone on to continue his fine form in the colours of Real Betis over the new season’s early months.

All told, across 11 appearances to date, the 25-year-old has directly contributed to eight goals.
