Alexander Bah suffered a right shoulder problem and went off after 17 minutes against Marítimo. According to Glorioso 1904, he will miss the trip to Moreira de Cónegos and Marco Silva has picked Daniel Banjaqui to start at right-back against Moreirense.
Bah was hurt following a collision with Paulo Henrique, Marítimo’s left-back, and left the pitch immediately.
The head coach’s plan had been to give the 18-year-old minutes during a demanding run, trusting him to deliver in the role. Inside the club he is seen as physically strong with attacking qualities, and there is confidence he is ready, including fitness.
He recently sustained a right thigh muscle injury, which kept him off the trip to Madeira. The priority shifted to regaining match rhythm, so he played for the B team, starting and going off on 72 minutes in a 2-0 defeat to Torreense.
Banjaqui’s importance has grown, as he is the only natural right-back available. That does not leave Silva with only one route. Tomás Araújo and Fredrik Aursnes know the right flank and have covered it several times.
The choices in Madeira also reflected that thinking. The Polish winger Jakub Kaminski replaced Bah, and Australian defender Alessandro Circati moved to right-back in the second half.
