Avaí win inaugural Copa Sul-Sudeste on penalties against Chapecoense | OneFootball

Avaí clinched the first Copa Sul-Sudeste, defeating Chapecoense 5-4 on penalties after a 3-3 aggregate draw in the final.

According to Globo.com, the champions also secure a place in the 2027 Copa do Brasil.

In the first leg at Ressacada on Wednesday at 20:00, Avaí won 3-0 to take control of the tie.

Chapecoense responded on Sunday at 11:00 at Arena Condá, winning 3-0 to force a shoot-out.

Wenderson converted the fifth penalty to seal the decider for the Leão da Ilha.

The competition’s scoring chart lists Paulinho, Elias and Jean Lucas on three goals.
