Barcelona keeping Dusan Vlahovic option alive despite Julian Alvarez priority | OneFootball

The top priority of FC Barcelona for the current summer transfer window is the signing of a new striker, to fill the void left by the departure of Robert Lewandowski at the end of the last season. The Catalans have a clear candidate for this purpose, i.e., the Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez.

The Blaugrana club has already made unsuccessful attempts to start negotiations with the Colchoneros for the Argentine forward, and this operation is expected to drag on for quite a while, with no certainty about its outcome.

In such a context, the Catalan side is also being linked with some alternatives in the market, and one player who seems particularly keen for a move to Barcelona is the Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic, who has reportedly once again offered himself to the Blaugranes. His contract with the Italian side is set to expire on 30th June, and thus he can join as a free-agent.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the azulgrana club’s main priority still remains Alvarez, especially as they do not consider the Serb to be a player capable of a starting spot in their team. However, they are still not ruling out his signing as they see him as a possible replacement of Ferran Torres, whose future at the Catalan club is also somewhat uncertain following reports of him being linked with PSG.

This is particularly the case as with Lewandowski’s departure, there is no pure striker left in their team, and Vlahovic would fit well with Alvarez because of his differing profile.

For now, Juventus are still trying to tie him down with a new contract, while other sides like Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, and Besiktas are also interested in him. However, with 30th June not too far away, it remains to be seen whether he would play for Barcelona for the next season.
