FC Barcelona remain interested in Jesse Bisiwu, but the operation has cooled because Club Brugge are asking for a high fee for the young forward.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barca have been following the Belgian talent for some time and had advanced in contacts after meetings with both the player’s agent and the Belgian club.

The problem is not the player’s profile. Inside Barcelona, Bisiwu is admired for his technique, pace, and ability to beat defenders. The club see him as a player with significant room to grow.

The issue is the price. Barca tried to move early before other clubs became more serious, but Brugge have stayed firm and do not want to sell below their initial valuation.

Barca remain patient despite setback

The asking price is currently viewed as the biggest obstacle preventing the transfer from progressing. While Barcelona continue to admire Bisiwu’s long-term potential, they are unwilling to move beyond what they consider a reasonable valuation for a player who is still at the beginning of his professional career.

That approach reflects a broader transfer strategy under Deco. Rather than entering expensive bidding wars for emerging talents, Barcelona have increasingly focused on identifying opportunities that make both sporting and financial sense.

The club see Bisiwu as a player who would initially strengthen Barca Atletic before gradually earning the opportunity to compete for a place in Hansi Flick’s first-team squad. That pathway has become increasingly common for young signings arriving from abroad.

Encouragingly for Barcelona, Bisiwu would welcome the chance to continue his development in Catalonia. That could prove important if negotiations reopen later in the summer.

For now, though, patience appears to be the preferred strategy. Barcelona have not abandoned the operation, but they are waiting to see whether Club Brugge soften their position as the transfer window progresses.

If that happens, the Blaugrana are expected to be ready. Until then, the club seem determined to avoid paying above their valuation, and that is the right stance.
