Raphinha has been dragged into an unnecessary storm at a sensitive moment, with former Brazil international Vampeta making claims about the Barcelona winger’s private life and future.
Speaking on the Red Podcast, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo, Vampeta said:
“Raphinha is going through a serious family problem, in addition to financial difficulties. He’s praying to see if he can go to Al-Hilal; he’s dealing with this situation.”
The comments quickly spread because they linked two powerful themes: Raphinha’s future at Barcelona and alleged personal problems away from football.
Vampeta himself described the information as gossip he had heard during the Club World Cup. He also added:
“It’s a family matter; the information came to me through people close to the situation in Barcelona. He trusts that his move to Al-Hilal will allow him to turn the situation around.”
The response from Raphinha’s camp was immediate and sharp. Igor Padilha, the player’s cousin, wrote:
“You’ll have to explain these lies, my friend.”
That denial matters. It is one thing to discuss transfer interest, salary offers or squad planning. It is another to put claims about a player’s family and finances into the public space without firm evidence.
Raphinha has already been linked with Saudi Arabia, and Barca’s financial reality means almost every major player ends up being discussed in market terms.
The winger is currently with Brazil at the World Cup and is recovering from a muscle injury suffered against Haiti.
That alone is enough for the player to deal with, without external noise turning his private life into a public affair for everyone to view.
From Barca’s side, the priority should be simple: protect the player and separate sporting decisions from gossip.
If Raphinha’s future is debated, it should be done through football, finances and squad logic, not unverified personal claims.
Raphinha has earned respect at Barcelona through work rate, goals and personality. Whatever happens in the transfer window, he deserves better than becoming the centre of a story his own camp has already strongly rejected.
