Robert Lewandowski proved decisive for Barcelona against Real Oviedo after coming off the bench to help them secure a 3-1 victory.

The 37-year-old centre-forward took less than five minutes to score a superb header, which gave the Blaugrana the lead, thus playing a key role in the win.

Speaking to DAZN (h/t Mundo Deportivo) after the match, Lewandowski stated that he was pleased with the team’s performance on the night, coming back from a goal down to secure the win.

“At first, it was difficult. I personally like the way this team plays, because they want to play good football,” he admitted, giving Real Oviedo credit.

“In the first half, we struggled with finishing and scoring, but in the second, we played faster and found more space. The win was important for us.”

The striker revealed that Flick gave him no special instructions before coming on in the second period.

“I did what I always do (laughs), Hansi didn’t ask me for anything special. Every three days, we have a game, we have to control every minute and know how to rotate. If we win, we can say we did things well,” he said.

On his own form, Lewandowski acknowledged he’s now back to feeling at his best after a tricky start to the campaign.

“At the end of pre-season, I had an injury, and it was harder at the beginning, and I needed more time to get back into rhythm,” noted Lewandowski.

“I’m patient and there’s no rush; the season is very long, and I want to play whenever I’m at 100%. I feel very good, and it’s also important for the team to have all the players available.”

Lewandowski closed with a message for Gavi, saying: “I hope Gavi comes back to play soon, I feel bad for him.”
