Bayern Munich are considering a move for Sunderland striker Brian Brobbey, according to The Independent.
The Bavarians have been monitoring the Dutch striker with a view to making a move in the summer as they seek to bolster their attack.
Nicolas Jackson is expected to return to Chelsea after the expiration of his loan deal this summer, leaving Harry Kane as Bayern’s only recognised centre-forward.
Brobbey would provide depth behind Kane if he joins the German giants.
The Netherlands international joined Sunderland from Ajax in a deal reportedly worth €25 million plus add-ons last summer as part of their analytics-based recruitment model.
Brobbey has scored only six goals in 25 Premier League games but has impressed with his movement and physicality, making him a handful for defenders.
The 25-year-old is also expected to be on the radar of several Premier League clubs.
He signed a contract until 2029, meaning Sunderland are likely to demand a substantial fee for his signature.
It remains to be seen whether Brobbey would be open to joining Bayern, despite the allure of playing in the Champions League.
His game time would significantly reduce with a move to the Bundesliga perennial champions and that could play a role in his decision.
Brobbey will be aiming to finish the season strongly to boost his chances of playing for the Netherlands at the World Cup.
He did not feature during the qualification campaign, but played last month’s friendlies against Norway and Ecuador, putting him in contention to feature at the tournament.
