Leandro Paredes will miss Boca’s Copa Sudamericana round of 16 second leg against Recoleta after sustaining a muscle issue in the 1-1 draw with Platense. The Boca captain has been ruled out.

He left early in the second half in Vicente López after feeling discomfort. The player said in a social media post that he will rest, recover and aim to return stronger.

Boca have not issued an official medical report. Early indications suggest inflammation in his left hamstring rather than a tear, so rest in the coming days will determine his return.

His absence is a significant blow for Rodolfo Arruabarrena’s side, who must also replace Leandro Lozano and Marco Pellegrino, both managing muscle problems.

There is cautious optimism he could be available for Racing on Sunday 23 August, matchday six of the Torneo Clausura, depending on how he progresses this week.

For the Recoleta game, candidates to step in include Tomás Belmonte and Camilo Rey Domenech, or Arruabarrena could adjust the shape for a more attacking approach.
