Botafogo host Remo in the Brasileirão on Saturday, 2 May 2026, at Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro, with the home side looking to consolidate Copa Sudamericana spots and the visitors trying to climb out of the relegation zone.
Botafogo are 8th on 17 points with a goal difference of zero this season, while Remo sit 19th with eight points and a -10 goal difference. The hosts won both league meetings in 2021.
Fogão arrive in strong form with four wins and a draw across their last five in all competitions, including a 3-0 home victory over Independiente. Leão Azul's recent run shows one win, two draws and two defeats, most recently a 1-0 home loss to Cruzeiro.
Injuries could shape selections. For Fogão, Kaio Fernando Da Silva Pantaleao and Nathan Fernandes are sidelined. Leão Azul list Gabriel Bill, Eduardo Melo, Thalisson, David Braga, Freitas and Kayky Almeida as injured.
Glorioso have scored 24 league goals in 12 games and may look to test an away defence that has conceded 15 times on the road, with Remo collecting only two away points so far. The visitors' best route could be keeping the game tight and targeting moments in transition, given the hosts have also conceded 24.
A win would strengthen Fogão's position in the Copa Sudamericana places and could nudge them further up the table. For Leão Azul, any positive result would aid their survival bid and may close the gap to safety in the relegation battle.
