Breel Embolo is expected to leave Rennes, with talks now under way with promoted Ipswich after interest from Atlanta United cooled.

According to L'Équipe, the Swiss forward had been heading to Atlanta in a €17m deal that suited Rennes and would have placed him in the MLS top 10 transfer fees, but he is said to have rejected the proposed salary.

Ipswich have emerged as an alternative and are ready to match Rennes' demands. The newly promoted Premier League club have tabled a contract offer to the 29-year-old, who is tied to Rennes until June 2029.

Atlanta United have not entirely abandoned their pursuit of the former Monaco striker.

Even so, Ipswich are now viewed as favourites for his signature.
