Leeds United midfielder Brenden Aaronson made a lively second-half appearance for the USA as they edged past Australia 2-1 in an international friendly in Colorado this morning.
Aaronson, 24, came off the bench in the 64th minute to replace Timothy Weah and made an immediate impact with his energy and creativity in midfield. The Leeds man recorded 19 touches, completed 16 passes and created two chances, as the hosts continued their preparations for next year’s FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
He also contributed defensively, winning one tackle, making one recovery, and coming out on top in one duel during his 26-minute cameo.
The appearance marked Aaronson’s 53rd international cap, further underlining his growing experience at international level.
The USA’s focus now turns to their next round of friendlies later this year, while Aaronson will return to West Yorkshire to rejoin Daniel Farke’s Leeds United, who travel to Burnley on Saturday.
