CD Castellón have reached an agreement for head coach Pablo Hernández to stay in charge. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, he has signed for the next two seasons, with the club able to extend it for a third.
President Haralabos Voulgaris and Hernández had said they would settle his future after the season, and both sides have now aligned. The club value his work and Castellón has been his priority at the start of a promising coaching career.
He took over mid-season with the team in a delicate spot and led them into the promotion play-off. His results and an ambitious, attacking style caught wider attention and matched the hierarchy’s outlook.
He will lead the first team into the fifth season of the Voulgaris project, with the aim of raising the bar. This term he posted 20 wins, 10 draws and seven defeats in the league, earning a play-off place before losing in the semi-final to Almería.
Hernández often says he is simply another orellut. A youth product, he enjoyed a top-level career, celebrated the club’s highs as a supporter and helped in 2017 when survival hung by a thread.
He ended his playing days at Castellón. In 2023 he moved into coaching, earned promotion with the B team to Segunda RFEF, stepped up from interim to confirmed first-team boss, and now renews.
