Jeremy Mellot was sent off for the third time this season during the second half at Mirandés. He will miss Saturday’s visit of Burgos at 18.30 at SkyFi Castalia, leaving a hole on the right and sparking another audition.
El Periódico Mediterráneo notes Castellón had already moved to bolster that flank in winter, with president Bob Voulgaris viewing Ismael Fadel’s signing as a multi-purpose move, to train with the first team, play for the reserves and be ready when required.
The need arrived when Mellot’s fifth booking against Andorra triggered a ban for matchday 25 in Valladolid. Coach Pablo Hernández started Fadel on the right and Castellón produced one of their statement wins, 0-4.
Soon after, Mellot was dismissed against Racing, ruling him out of the trip to Real Sociedad B on matchday 29. With Lucas Alcázar also missing, Raúl Sánchez filled in, it did not convince and Castellón lost 4-2.
His next red came in Gijón against Sporting. For matchday 31 at SkyFi Castalia versus Cultural, Beñat Gerenabarrena began there, then returned to midfield after a flat first half, Fadel completed the second period and conceded a late penalty for 1-1.
