Zeki Celik’s contract renewal is not close.
Gasperini would like to keep the three players whose contracts are expiring, including the Turkish full-back himself, as well as the duo of Paulo Dybala and Lorenzo Pellegrini, both of whom are close to staying in the capital.
For the former Lille player, the situation is different. An agreement for a renewal is still a long way off, but the parties are continuing to discuss whether there is scope for a financial compromise that will satisfy everyone.
Celik is a key asset for Gian Piero Gasperini, given that only Cristante and Mancini, among the outfield players, have played more than him this season.
As Corriere dello Sport reports, however, the financial demands of the Turkish full-back’s entourage are considered too high by the club, especially in a transfer window where they want to maintain a certain balance in the dressing room and the salary structure.
Contacts between the parties are ongoing, but the road remains uphill. Celik’s future will be clarified in the coming days.
