Celta Vigo supporter stabbed amid Guillotière clashes after Europa League win in Lyon | OneFootball

A Celta Vigo supporter reportedly sustained knife wounds during violent clashes in Lyon’s Guillotière district on Thursday night, according to Actu Lyon and Le Progrès.

Celta Vigo had beaten Lyon 2-0 in the Europa League earlier that evening. The outlets reported that groups of visiting supporters, some said to be drunk and carrying sticks, were roaming the area after being removed from a bus over their behaviour.

Both outlets also said confrontations quickly flared with residents and passers-by, with fireworks mortars used and property damaged. Police, already in position, dispersed groups using tear gas.

One Celta fan was struck with a plank and suffered at least one stab wound to the arm and the foot, the reports said. He was taken to Édouard-Herriot Hospital and, according to the outlets, his condition was not life-threatening.

According to the same reports, a suspect believed to be responsible for the blows was arrested, and an investigation is under way.
