Cesar Peixoto says creating a close-knit family at Wolves is his first step towards a swift Premier League return, as he seeks to bring the club together after last week's shock sacking of Rob Edwards.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Wolves are due back for pre-season in the first week of July, but Peixoto plans to speak to senior players before then to set out his ideas. Talks have already covered potential signings, with Jorge Mendes expected to have a major role in recruitment.

While his focus will be on the training pitch, the Portuguese wants the entire club environment, from players to staff, pulling together through what he accepts will be a demanding Championship season.

Peixoto has returned to Portugal while he awaits the work permit required to start officially at Compton Park. The 46-year-old on Tuesday posted a heartfelt message to Gil Vicente, reflecting on 16 months of development and explaining he felt professionally compelled to take this step, despite his affection for the club and his intention to keep supporting them.

Wolves moved for him after he guided Gil Vicente to a sixth-placed finish in Portugal's top flight last season. Several members of his backroom team are expected to follow him to Wolverhampton, with confirmation likely closer to the start of pre-season.

Wolves have opened the window with the arrivals of Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez. Outgoings are inevitable as the squad is reshaped.
