Charlie Cresswell ‘to have medical’ before €28m Rennes switch | OneFootball

According to David Ornstein, Charlie Cresswell is set to have a medical on Sunday before joining Rennes from Toulouse.

The agreement is an initial loan worth €2.5m with a €22.5m obligation to buy, plus €3m and a 10 per cent future sale clause, and a five-year deal on completion, a package of about €28m that would be Toulouse’s second-biggest sale.

The England youth international came through Leeds United’s academy and reached the first team, although minutes were limited amid strong competition at centre-back.

He ended more than a decade at Elland Road by joining Toulouse in July 2024 for a fee believed to be around £3.8m. Now 23, his form in France has lifted his value.

Brighton had a €23m bid rejected in January. Crystal Palace were also linked, and suggestions of a renewed Brighton approach this summer had followed.

Completion would come barely a year after his move to Toulouse.
