Club América have officially unveiled 33-year-old Colombian striker Miguel Borja to bolster their attack.

According to Americayya.net, the Águilas have paid an undisclosed fee and agreed a one-year contract with an option for a further season. The deal could keep him at the club until mid-2028.

América tried to sign Borja six months ago but financial differences scuppered talks. Cruz Azul were close to a deal yet could not register him, so as a free agent he chose Al-Wasl in the United Arab Emirates, where he posted good numbers but never felt comfortable.

Borja offers goals, movement, generosity and hard work. His output has dipped in recent years, though he remains sharp in front of goal, particularly in the air where his heading is a major weapon.

He also links well with team-mates and can aid build-up play, traits that may complement Raphael Veiga, with whom he played at Palmeiras between 2017 and 2019.

Full name Miguel Ángel Borja Hernández, born 26 January 1993, he stands 1.84 metres tall. His past clubs include Deportivo Cali, Atlético Nacional, Palmeiras, River Plate and Al-Wasl.
