FC Bayern continues to work on a contract extension with Konrad Laimer. After recent difficult talks, an agreement now appears to be in the works.
An important personnel matter could soon be resolved at FC Bayern. Under Vincent Kompany, Konrad Laimer is one of the most reliable players on the roster and is expected to remain in Munich beyond the current term of his contract.
As reported by the website cfbayerninsider.com, negotiations between FC Bayern and the Austrian international are now in the final stages. BILD soccer editor Christian Falk recently hinted that an agreement is getting closer. “There have been talks, so I think it’s looking really good,” Falk explained.
Laimer’s current contract runs through 2027. However, Bayern’s management wants to secure the versatile defender’s long-term commitment to the club. The 29-year-old has become an important part of the squad in recent years and is highly regarded within the club.
Above all, his versatility makes him particularly valuable to Kompany. Laimer can be deployed both in central midfield and at either fullback position. Last season, he primarily played on the right side of defense, where he impressed with consistent performances.

However, the path to a contract extension was not without obstacles. According to consistent reports, the two sides were initially far apart in their discussions regarding the financial terms.
The issue even occupied honorary president Uli Hoeneß, who commented publicly on the situation. In an interview with DAZN, the 74-year-old made it clear that the club must adhere to clear financial limits when it comes to contract extensions.
Hoeneß spoke of a “realistic assessment of his sporting and economic value” and added: “It’s high—but he’s just not Harry Kane.”
According to a report by Sport BILD, Laimer was initially “extremely irritated” by these statements. In the meantime, however, the waters seem to have calmed. Talks have continued, and the two sides have apparently moved closer together.
Currently, there are many indications that Laimer will continue to wear the FC Bayern jersey in the coming years. At the same time, club officials are also working on a contract extension with Harry Kane, whose current contract also runs through 2027. While there are still some unresolved issues with Kane, it appears that an agreement with Laimer is now much closer.
