Corinthians’ Conselho Deliberativo meets on Monday night to vote on the possible expulsion of Augusto Melo from the club’s membership, after an internal inquiry into events at Parque São Jorge on 31 May 2025. Melo was removed from the presidency in August 2025.
According to Meu Timao, supporters attempted to reinstall him that night, led by Maria Angela de Sousa Ocampos, the council’s first secretary, who declared herself chair after entering the council chamber. The move sought to annul the impeachment vote, which would have returned Melo in place of interim president Osmar Stabile if recognised.
Councillors will also decide sanctions for colleagues involved across two sittings. On Monday they will assess Maria Angela, Mario Mello Junior, Paulo Juricic and Ronaldo Fernandez Tomé. On 8 June the focus shifts to Carlos Eduardo Melo Silva, Laercio Ferreira Victoria, Leandro Olmedila, Marcos Coelho Abdo, Paulo Rogério Pinheiro Jr., Peterson Ruan Aiello do Couto Ramos, Rodrigo Simonnini Gonzalez and Wanderson Contrera Salles.
Mario Mello and Ronaldo Tomé currently sit on the Ethics and Discipline Commission. If suspended or removed, they would be replaced by alternates Claudia Carlos Oliveira and Richard de Paula Oliveira.
The invasion has been under internal scrutiny since July last year and advanced in May, when the Ethics Commission recommended punishments. Monday’s session will be chaired by Leonardo Pantaleão, the acting council president.
Councillors will vote on the Commission’s opinion that recommends expelling Melo for a very serious statutory breach, having rejected his defence and deemed him the main political beneficiary of the attempted occupation. In hearings, Melo said he had no prior knowledge of Maria Angela’s initiative and was told by supporters of a document that could restore him as the club’s legitimate president. Stabile, then interim, described the episode as a threat to democratic rule of law.
The meeting begins at 18:00 at the Teatro do Parque São Jorge, with a second call at 19:00 regardless of attendance. After approving previous minutes, the rapporteur will read the opinion, then the defence will make its oral argument.
If a majority backs the Ethics recommendation, Melo would be expelled from the membership, barred from the social club and permanently severed from the institution.
