Crystal Palace are considering a move for Solly March, according to the BBC.

The Eagles are looking to ramp up their transfer activity after a very slow start to the summer transfer window.

Palace are close to signing Takehiro Tomiyasu and have submitted an offer for defender Axel Disasi. They have also agreed personal terms with Raphael Le Guen.

The 32-year-old, who has been described as a ‘great player‘, is available on a free transfer after leaving Brighton & Hove Albion.

March is primarily a right-winger by trade but can operate as a wing-back. He could provide competition for Daniel Munoz.

March would be a shrewd signing for Palace

With Nathan Clyne leaving Selhurst Park this summer following the expiration of his contract, Palace need another wing-back.

While Brennan Johnson deputised there last season, the Eagles should be trying to move him on following an unconvincing spell.

March would be a cheap pick-up that can still provide quality. Munoz does not miss many games, meaning March won’t have a big role to play.

However, Palace fans will not be very receptive to this transfer as he spent 13 years with their arch-rivals.

Born in Eastbourne, March was in Palace’s youth system left before joining the Seagulls, where he established himself.

Despite his Brighton connections and age, March could still prove to be a sensible addition for Palace.

Experience, versatility and Premier League know-how are valuable qualities for a squad preparing to compete on multiple fronts, and he would not command a transfer fee.

March would be a cost-effective depth signing that could strengthen Palace’s squad without disrupting the first team.
