Cuiabano a doubt for Vasco at Coritiba as club awaits reassessment | OneFootball

Renato Gaúcho faces a selection concern with left-back Cuiabano a serious doubt for Vasco da Gama’s trip to Coritiba on Wednesday (01) at 20:30 at Couto Pereira.

The club said in a statement that Cuiabano felt discomfort during Saturday’s training session, scans showed oedema in a gluteal muscle, and he will be reassessed by Tuesday (31) to decide if he can play.

If he is ruled out on medical grounds to avoid aggravating the issue, Lucas Piton is on standby and could take the starting spot for the difficult away game.

Cuiabano has impressed since Gaúcho took charge at São Januário, given licence to attack and producing two goals and three assists in five matches under the new coach, plus one Campeonato Carioca outing before the change.

His loan runs until the end of the year, with a 10 million euros option to buy from Nottingham Forest of England, around R$ 61 million. Forest signed him in September 2025 for 6 million euros, roughly R$ 38 million, and Vasco are studying the finances to act before European interest complicates talks.
