Leeds United head to Stamford Bridge for a Carabao Cup third round tie on Wednesday, with Daniel Farke set to address the media today.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the Whites beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 at the City Ground last month, then drew 1-1 at Brighton where Jayden Bogle struck before Luka Vuskovic levelled.
With a quick turnaround, fitness updates are expected on those sidelined and recent returnees. Gabriel Gudmundsson played 90 minutes at the Amex after a pre-season muscle issue, and there is hope Ilia Gruev could return for his first appearance since April. Joe Rodon will not feature, the defender facing up to 10 weeks out with a hamstring injury.
Should Gudmundsson be rested, deadline day arrival Melvin Bard could be handed a debut. The schedule could also see Noah Okafor rested, with Jean-Matteo-Bahoya eyeing a first appearance. Farke is likely to be asked about both.
Rotation more broadly is set to feature in questioning, alongside the aim to extend an unbeaten start and progress in the cup. It will be Leeds’ first Carabao Cup third round under Farke after three earlier exits.
Farke may also address hosts Chelsea under new manager Xabi Alonso. He faced Alonso twice in Germany, his Borussia Monchengladbach losing 3-2 and drawing 2-2 with Bayer Leverkusen in 2022/23.
Farke is due to speak at 11.45am.
