According to Sky Germany, Jürgen Klopp has now been given the green light to become the new Germany head coach, succeeding Julian Nagelsmann following the national team’s disappointing 2026 World Cup campaign.

Klopp has long been expected to take over the role, with the final obstacle being an agreement between the DFB and Red Bull, where the former Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool manager has been serving as Head of Global Soccer.

That hurdle has now reportedly been cleared, with a full agreement in place for Klopp to remain in charge until the 2030 World Cup. An agreement in principle between the DFB and Red Bull regarding his departure has also been reached.

According to the report, Klopp met Red Bull chief executive Oliver Mintzlaff at a secret location in New York on Saturday, where the remaining details of his exit were finalised. The last contractual formalities involving Klopp and his commercial partners are expected to be completed in writing after Sunday’s World Cup final.

If everything proceeds as planned, Klopp will sign his contract in Frankfurt on Friday. The DFB are also expected to officially unveil him as Germany’s new head coach later that day, with a press conference reportedly scheduled to follow.
