Deco hails Barça’s new generation as the start of a cycle | OneFootball

Barcelona sporting director Deco says the club are only at the start of a new cycle. Powered by La Masia graduates, the plan is to build with stability rather than overhaul the squad each summer.

"It is true we have won two Liga titles, but these players want to win more. It is important because when a group believes it can achieve big things, you see it is still hungry and wants to keep making history," he told the BBC.

"I think this team marks the start of a cycle, the beginning of this group's story, because they are very young and still want to win major trophies," he said.

"Now we do not need to go and find four or five players on the market," he added.

Barcelona clinched a second straight Liga with a decisive 2-0 win over Real Madrid and a run of 11 successive league victories. Although a Champions League quarter-final exit still stings, the club appear to have regained continuity.
