Dominic Calvert-Lewin will discover on Friday 22 May whether he is heading to the World Cup with Thomas Tuchel’s England, and the Leeds United striker has two more chances to impress, at Tottenham on Monday night and at home to Brighton the following Sunday.
The federation announced that the 26-player squad will be confirmed on 22 May for the tournament in Canada, Mexico and USA, which runs from 11 June to 19 July.
Calvert-Lewin earned an England recall in March after fine club form, making his first Three Lions appearance since 2021 as a second-half substitute against Marcelo Bielsa’s Uruguay at Wembley.
He then departed the camp before the second friendly against Japan as Tuchel reduced numbers, a return that was pre-planned, with several others also withdrawing through injury. England subsequently lost 1-0 to Japan in their final warm-up before the squad is named.
In early June, England are scheduled to hold a training camp in Florida and play New Zealand on Saturday 6 June and Costa Rica on Wednesday 10 June, both 9pm BST.
England’s group campaign is due to start against Croatia in Dallas on Wednesday 17 June at 9pm BST, then Ghana in Boston on Tuesday 23 June at 9pm BST, before Panama in New Jersey on Saturday 27 June at 10pm BST.
