Eddie Howe ‘to leave’ Newcastle, Matthias Jaissle lined up | OneFootball

Newcastle United will search for a new head coach after Eddie Howe’s departure was announced by Sky Sports on Thursday.

The Athletic reports that Howe was set to leave after informing the club he would take a break.

Howe, 48, had led Newcastle since November 2021 and had been expected to remain despite a disappointing 2025-26 campaign that ended with the Magpies finishing just two points above newly promoted Leeds United.

The Athletic also said 38-year-old Matthias Jaissle of Al Ahli has been lined up as his replacement.

The Athletic indicated that all parties had initially chosen to continue, but Howe opted to step away.
